Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Most pH measurement probes require regular calibration. Do the probes have to be removed regularly for this purpose?
Answer: No the devices have been designed to last for 100days without the need for re-calibration.

Question: Can the data be downloaded remotely?
Answer: Depending upon how the overall communications system is deployed we envisage the data being available via the internet on a secure server so that it can be retrieved via a PC or a suitably enabled mobile device.

Question: Can others see the data and download it?
Answer: The data download from the bolus is via a proprietary protocol and it is envisaged that this will then be transmitted by a secure protocol over the internet. Only users with the appropriate permissions, e.g. the farmer, vets etc will be able to access the data.

Question: Does the bolus need to be removed from the animal?
Answer: It is anticipated that the bolus will only be removed at slaughter and it can then be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
