Overview

Well Cow has developed and successfully trailled sensor and wireless communications which can record the rumen pH of cattle.

Using a bolus in the cow's rumen, which can continue to operate for more than 100 days, the pH value is monitored and stored every 15 minutes. The data can be read wirelessly from a distance of about 2 meters via a hand held device or transmitted to a remote server via a collar on the cow.

Via a collar on the cow the data can also be communicated wider to a server connected to the sensors via mobile telephony and onto the internet to be accessed anywhere in the world via a secure web site.
